| Mare
Blocker first became interested in books in 1979 while studying creative
writing, textiles and sculpture at the University of Washington. She
attributes her twenty-year relationship with her Vandercook 219 proofing
press for instilling the magic that has remained a constant in the
alchemical process of art and bookmaking. Her favorite among the mottos
and mantras that support her routine is: Freedom of the press belongs
to those who own the presses so START TALKING! Mare lives in Walla
Walla, Washington during the academic year and the rest of the year
in the small town of McCall, Idaho, home of her McKimberly Press. |
