Born 1955 in Fushun, Liaoning Province, China. Graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now known as the China Academy of Fine Arts) in 1984, where she is currently a lecturer in the printmaking department. Her works have been exhibited in England, Japan, Germany, America, Australia, Hong Kong and China.

Chen Hai-Yan began recording her dreams in the form of woodblock prints in 1986,

Selected Activities

 

1996 Speaks at the British Museum about her works in the collection.
1994 Dream exhibited at the Eighth National Art Exhibition and awarded bronze medal. Twelve more pieces from the Dream series collected by the British Museum
1993 Dream Series woodblock prints exhibited at the Print Exhibition, Northern Ireland and acquired by British Museum.
1987 Horizon exhibited and acquired by Asian-Pacific Museum, Pasadena, California
1985 Etching Horizon won third national prize in the National Youth Exhibition.
