Hank Murrow

Recently, I felt the need to move my most frequently used imagery to a new format, and began a series of large plaques which I call "Migrations of the Heart".  These meditate on romance using the movement of migrating birds as the central metaphor played out against aerial landscapes. The large clay slabs with no requirement, save to serve the metaphor, have allowed my musings to accrue some additional richness and complexity, and the metaphor promises to remain a deep one.
It is difficult to imagine working with this subject so deeply and happily without those many exemplars of  romance who share themselves generously.  But then generosity is the native condition of the lover.

"The way of love is not
a subtle argument.

The door there
is devastation.

Birds make great sky-circles
of their freedom.

How do they learn it?

They fall, and falling.............
 they're given wings."

Rumi, as brought over into English by Coleman Barks
