Description
From a period in my work wherein revealing/concealing was the most pronounced
concept. In “Speculate” I wrote directly onto the pieces of reclaimed linen and
cotton fabrics or onto pieces of various handmade papers. Some of the fabric and
paper pieces were tinted with an acrylic ink. The content of the writing is personal,
visceral, and cathartic. Since it is not intended to be readable, by me or anyone
else, the next step is to disguise the writing. I leave some evidence of handwriting
but it cannot be read in a literal sense. The words cannot be read but the piece can.
