Lisa Esherick – Paintings

A long-time Bay Area artist, Lisa Esherick is interested in the “expressive nature of painting.” She finds emotional presence in the stillness of the cityscape and, through painting people, explores “possibilities for expressive interaction that speaks of the human condition in our contemporary world.” From 1959 to 1963, Esherick studied at the San Francisco Art Institute under Richard Diebenkorn, Jack Jefferson, Frank Lobdell, Manuel Neri and James Weeks. She then pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and later received her MFA in Painting from San Francisco State University. Since the 1970s, Esherick has shown her paintings extensively throughout California in both group and solo exhibitions, including a one-person show at the Fresno Art Museum. She has also had two solo shows in Bielefeld and Stuttgart, Germany.
