Description
The runner is hand woven in a satin block design with origins in a weaving draft from 18th century Germany. The original symmetrical design was rearranged quite a bit, and the treadling was improvised to achieve a balanced whole. The earliest reference for the draft dates to ~1740 Germany, and it appears again in a manuscript around 1800 in Pennsylvania.
