Diane Pigg – Oregon, Naturally rug

Description

The rug is hand woven in Krokbragd, a 3 shaft traditional Norwegian weave structure. All weft yarn was naturally dyed, mostly with plants grown and/or gathered in Oregon. Some of the plants are native – Lobaria and Usnea lichen, for example, while some, like indigo, are imported. Indigo will grow here, and is such an important dye plant, I included a small amount of commercial indigo, along with the lighter blue that came from my homegrown plants.
